So you’ve been to Panama and you LOVED it! But have you been to the Darien? Have you visited Volcan Baru or La Amistad International Park in the Chiriqui Highlands? Have you stayed at the paradise called Tranquilo Bay in Bocas del Toro? Our NEW Panama tour will take you to new and exciting places where you will be sure to add to your life list. You have very good chances to see Harpy Eagle, Crested Eagle, Dusky-backed Jacamar, and Yellow-hooded Blackbird in the Darien, just to name a few Darien specialties we hope to see. The very rare Snowy Cotinga is usually seen near Tranquilo Bay, and you can expect Nicaraguan Seed-Finch, Brown Booby, and Red-billed Tropicbird among many others on (or near) this island retreat, as well as active Golden-collared Manakin leks. Resplendent Quetzal, Yellow-thighed Finch, Long-tailed Silky-Flycatcher, Orange-billed Nightingale-Thrush, and Flame-throated Warbler are just of few of the highland species we’ll search for in the Chiriqui Highlands. This tour features some of our favorite places in Panama, and it is going to be AMAZING!!
This tour will be led by our partner in South Africa, Errol de Beer, and his lovely wife Denise. A different local guide will accompany the group for each part of the tour: Carlos Bethancourt at the Canopy Camp, Ito Santa Maria in the Chiriqui Highlands, and one of the excellent naturalist guides on staff at Tranquilo Bay. All are top-notch birding guides, some of the best in the country!
